Time to go burn some effigies.

2010|365: A Design Project
In an effort to keep from getting creatively stagnant as I go through the course of a 9-5 design job, as well as staving off general laziness, I’ve undertaken this personal project.
Every day, rain, shine or somewhere inbetween, I will be making something cool. The results may be photos, design pieces, experimental type, videos, or anything else I feel is worth showing. The only caveat will be that each piece will have to be made that day, even though it might not get posted on the same day.
The end result of the project will be a book (possibly 365 pages long, maybe shorter to reduce costs), which I will make available to anyone who wants to pay for one.

You can track the project at the 2010|365 website or check out everything else I get up here.

November 4th “Lego Portraits: Tina & ‘The Bump'”

Creating LEGO portraits of my coworkers (and their soon-to be wee ones) for fun and profit.

November 3rd “Lunch Club”

Once again the Raincoast Lunch Club has fallen to me. I didn’t provide quite the range of options that I usually do, but it still turned out pretty well. And you got to pick your meal by filling in the wee elephant’s belly, which is kind of adorable, if I do say so myself.

November 2nd “Books. Books. And more books.”

November 10th, 2010 § 0

So today Raincoast had it’s annual charity booksale.
Paperback $1 Hardcovers $2 Super-Premium Hardcovers $5
I spent around sixty-five dollars all told. Guess how many books that works out to?

So today’s project was the reorganization and purging of my books. It took a couple hours, but now things are back under control (a couple shelves previously collapsed under the weight). I just really can’t say no to books, despite a complete lack of space to put them in.

Not pictured: The two full fileboxes of books that went into storage, all of ladyfriend’s books, and the literature that will hopefully be moving on to find a new home.

Ugh.

November 1st “Movember”

Are you fond of your (or your gentleman friend’s) testicles?
I thought so.

You should consider donating to a very good cause. As a reward, I shall endeavour to grow the silliest looking moustache I can this month. And yes, that does mean my beard is gone.

You can make donations to me or my team The Raincoast Stashmasters by visiting ca.movember.com/mospace/975928/

If anyone can name all the typefaces in the stashes above, I’ll even toss in a twenty sheet in their name.

2010|365: October 31st “Nostalgia”

Nostalgia can be a funny thing.
Remember those really awful Halloween toffees that you used to get from old people’s houses when you went trick-or-treating?

This evening, in an effort to recapture some fond gastronomic memories for my ladyfriend, we scoured no less than five stores, and skytrained out to Burnaby in search of these. After a long and fruitless search, we spied a solitary bag shoved behind the massive boxes of actual good candy.

I like to think it’s the last remaining bag in the whole of the lower mainland.
