Hello!

I'm Mark André Stokoe

Feel free to browse my curriculum vitae below.

+ Creative Director | Feelance | 05/09 – Present
In my ongoing freelance practice, I’ve worked with a variety of clients from often wildly differing fields. It’s been a little bit of everything, from web design and branding to fun afternoons on fashion shoots.
+ Faculty, Design | Capilano IDEA Program | 08/18 – Present
The Capilano IDEA program has a well-deserved reputation as one of the top creative learning programs in Canada, and I’ve been fortunate enough to work with their 4th year students to guide and inform the development of their final Capstone projects. Through a combination of directed exercises, open exploration, and feedback, this course enables them to fully dedicate themselves to a flagship project to level-up their graduate portfolios as they head into the job market.
+ Creative Director | Visier | 08/18 – 08/21
Led development of brand and creative development across the organization. Worked with the executive leadership to grow and evolve the Visier brand identity across all platforms. Partnered with the Director of Product Design to ensure consistent and meaningful representation of the brand within the product. Develops the nascent internal creative team, while also providing direction for a small army of freelance designers, writers, and creative agencies in order to push the design standards higher, and create a unified and delightful experience for our customers and stakeholders within the company.
+ Art Director | Hootsuite 08/16 – 03/18
Led design direction for the brand across Hootsuite’s multinational offices. Collaborated with the Senior Creative Director, VP Brand & Communications, and executive team to shape and evolve design across the company’s brand. Provided direction for (and was inspired by) a team of multi-level designers, while working with stakeholders across the company to ensure that creative meets business goals and to champion the impact of thoughtful and considered design solutions. Developed the Hootsuite brand standards and guidelines, and the framework for Flight, their brand design system. Worked alongside the Director of Product Design to ensure consistency in pattern libraries across the organization’s many-faceted design teams.
+ Design Lead | Hootsuite | 02/16 – 07/16
Les and managed a team of 6 awesome designers spanning UI/UX, front end development, and communication design. Provided strategic and hands-on creative direction in tandem with the Art Director and Director of Brand. Developed and implemented design processes to keep the team running lean. Sourced freelance assets for project-specific and overflow support. Partnered with internal clients across the organization to build relationships and champion design thinking.
+ Designer | Hootsuite | 01/14 – 02/16
Made a lot of awesome stuff.
+ Art Director | Public Design (neé Metaform) |  09/09 – 09/12
In my time at PUBLIC (merged with Metaform Communication Design), I was responsible for the design and development of all sorts of projects great and small. From art directing integrated advertising campaigns to tweaking the spacing of em-dashes, there was rarely a dull moment. collaborate with architects and designers on everything from branding and signage packages to creating fantastic rendering of things to come. And I can now say I’ve had some of my ideas literally carved in stone, so that’s pretty neat.
+ Raincoast Books | Designer | 08/09 – 09/12

Stories and streamlining are two of my favourite things. I pride myself on communicating messages, big and small, and doing it well. The medium I’m working in matters a lot less to me than the ideas and the results they can create. Design is for "making it awesome", not just “making it pretty”. Whether I'm leading a killer design team, or building a sweet cedar dining table, that notion is the cornerstone of my work. Whether your story gets told in words, pictures, or all of the above, I’d like to help you tell it well.
